This brings me back to camping with the kids when they were younger (granted, not THAT far back, my youngest is 4). Don’t feel bad about movies, thats the life of trips with kids. They just don’t “get” the outdoors in the same way adults do but they will have great memories of being with you and playing in the sand. Good stuff here.

Thanks! Yeah on previous camping trips having my son without any toys is TOUGH like pull my hairs out lol. This was actually the first time that I brought him movies and I must say, I had such a great time! He was more relaxed, I was able to film, and enjoy the night. And he was happy, which is so important.

Truthfully as much as we like to limit screen time, they aren’t going to get the same kinds of pleasures from these trips as we will, so you have to suit their entertainment to them. I took my then 4 year old on the white rim 2 years ago and she and her friend watched a lot of movies. They have fun playing when stopped but when you are rolling or at night its not a bad option to have.

Well said! Once my wife starts going on weekend camping trips with us soon, that will help me prepare food and setup while she watches him. Once he gets to 3-4 years old Im hoping he will be easier to handle when just him and I.
